Rice Porridge

Traditional Norwegian rice porridge.

Ingredients

  • 400mL water

  • 180g rice (short grain)

  • 1L full cream milk

  • ½tsp salt

  • 1tbsp vanilla extract

  • cinnamon

  • sugar

  • butter

Directions

  1. Wash the rice and boil in water until the water is absorbed, roughly 10 minutes.

  2. Add milk, salt, a tbsp of butter (optional) and vanilla (optional) and let boil for about 35 minutes. Stir often so the porridge doesn’t burn.

  3. Serve with butter, sugar and cinnamon.
